Repair wizard starting on booting

    My pc is a Dell with windows vista. Now recently whenever i boot the pc a screen comes up
    with the message 'reparing disk errors...this will take 1 hour'..and this is continuing for hours with no errors being fixed and the system re-starts again.
    Please let me know how do i fix the problem.
